Project 3 Reflection

Team and individual learning in your workplace

I believe that the use of mediacasting has a huge part to play in the workplace for both individuals and teams. The option to be able to access such things as mobile phones, wireless laptops and internet provides endless opportunities especially in areas where teams are geographically dispersed. The provision of information through these mediums can be broadcast to large groups if necessary, and also helps to eliminate any misunderstanding in the intentions of the message. To be able to access broadcasts from people outside the organisation enables teams and individuals to gain valuable information in a direct manner.

The interview process was valuable in gaining an insight into another manager’s viewpoint, and how they see leadership in our workplace. By being able to record their thoughts this information can be passed to to other managers in a simple manner, and help them to see a different perspective on leasdership.

Your role as a team leader

The use of mediacasting in the team leader role would be very useful in providing outside views and information directly to staff. This would allow the staff to digest outside information at their own pace, and source varying views other than those provided soley through the workplace. Staff also operates at different levels and therefore using media casting would be a way of finding information to suit individual staff.

The use of the interview with my staff would be effective in fleshing out differing views and thoughts, and by recording those thoughts these can always be referred back to when necessary.

You have added a different approach to the use of interviews for learning Mark, in that you have thought about its use with your staff to flesh out differing views and thoughts. This could be even better if permission is granted to share those views and thoughts.

I’m glad to see that you feel that both mediacasting and the interview technique could be useful in your role as a manager, and also in working with geographically dispersed teams.

    Thanks for sharing your reflections.
